WASHINGTON DC - The US Senate Committee on Indian Affairs will host a roundtable discussion called "Building Secure Homelands: Housing and Infrastructure Development in Native Communities."

The Committee is interested in hearing about:

  • Access to capital for sustainable community development
  • Streamlining leasing and title issues for home sites on federal trust lands
  • Infrastructure development opportunities for tribes and tribal housing agencies
  • Promoting, recruiting, and employing a qualified workforce through quality housing
  • Developing innovative housing partnerships between tribes and the private sector

The three hour roundtable will enable tribal leaders, federal agency employees and others interested in the topic to discuss concerns and suggestions on how to improve housing and economic development in Indian Country.

Loretta A. Tuell, Nez Perce, Majority Staff Director / Chief Counsel, will facilitate the roundtable discussion.
