ADRIAN, MICHIGAN - Even with brisk sales of the "hottest shoes in NDN Country" at the 58th Annual Chicago Powwow last month, Todd Harder, Creek, still has a supply of the limited edition Vans Pendleton shoes left to sell.
Limited Edition Vans Pendleton Shoes
The shoes were unveiled at the powwow. Vans Shoes designed the limited edition shoes with geometric designs provided by Pendleton.
Vans Shoes has released limited runs of these shoes for the past two years. Each run consists of completely different designs and colors. The released run consists of a special collection of Pendleton S8-His, Classic Slip-ons and Chukka Lows. Shoe prices start at $65 per pair.
Proceeds from the sale of the shoes go to Nibwaakaawin, a non-profit organization dedicated to the education and empowerment of Native youth. Nibwaakaawin is an Ojibwe word which means wisdom.
"All of the proceeds go to Nibwaakaawin, which puts on the All Nations Skate Jam. The people here in the booth are volunteers, so we can contribute more money to the cause," stated Harder to the Native News Network in Chicago.
Began by Harder, Nibwaakaawin's mission is "to foster creativity, build courage, enable cultural identity and pride, and promote non-violent and healthy physical activity through skateboarding."
All Nations Skate Jam takes place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, during the same weekend of the Gathering of the Nations Powwow, each April.
Contact shoes@allnationsskatejam.com to order a pair. Shoes are also available at Red Paint Printing, 120 East Maumee, Adrian, Michigan.
