VALLEJO, CALIFORNIA - The Committee to Protect Glen Cove/Sogorea Te has announced free screenings of two videos:
"Shellmound" by Andrés Cediel and
"The Spiritual Encampment to Protect Glen Cove" by Rebecca Ruiz-Lichter
The group has been at Sogorea Te since April 14 when it stopped the bulldozers from coming in and beginning construction on the installation of two toilets and a parking lot by the Greater Vallejo Recreation District.
After the videos are shown, various speakers will take the stage to hear the history of other local indigenous sacred sites and perspectives from Corrina Gould, Karkin/Chochenyo Ohlone, and Wounded Knee DeOcampo, Miwok, followed by a questions and answers period.
WHAT: Video Screenings and Speeches
WHEN: Wednesday, June 22, 7- pm
WHERE: Vallejo Naval & Maritime Museum
734 Marin Street
Vallejo, California
The Committee will release other video screenings as plans are completed.
Bay Area artist Jesus Barraza has donated a stack of his signed 18×24 "Indian Land" posters, screen printed on archival Strathmore paper. These posters are for sale by donation (recommended $20-$50), as a fundraiser for the Glen Cove defense fund.
