PORTLAND - Back on Friday, October 14, ABC "20/20" ran an episode called "A Hidden America: Children of the Plains" that featured four youth who live on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.

Last week, two of the four youth attended the National Congress of American Indians 68th Annual Convention in Portland, Oregon. Alaina Clifford, 19, who is an aspiring singer and tried out for "American Idol" and Robert Looks Twice, 13, who dreams of becoming the first American Indian president of the United States were a hit at the convention.

Heather Dawn Thompson and Jayson Brave Heart, who were also featured on the episode accompanied Alaina and Robert to the convention and served as chaperones to the two youth.

Clifford and Looks Twice were presented Pendleton blankets and a proclamation by the Tribes of the Northwest Indians.

The Native News Network ran a story last Monday of the event, which turned out to be the number one story of the week for us. We now offer a slide show of the "20/20" Kids, Heather Dawn Thompson and Jayson Brave Heart activities during the NCAI convention.
