135th Rosebud Fair
ROSEBUD INDIAN RESERVATION - In the Lakota language the word wacipi translate to an Indian healing tradition: "dancing in balance in the circle of life."
This weekend the 135th Rosebud Fair will be held on the on the powwow grounds on the Rosebud Indian Reservation. The fair combines a wacipi and rodeo with other activities, which include a triathlon/road run. Sponsored by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Diabetes Program, the triathlon will have road run, mud races and mud volleyball.
Grand entries for the wacipi, powwow, are 7 pm on Friday; 1 pm and 7 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
The powwow is a contest wacipi with cash prized of $50,800 for dancers and "20,000 purse for drums.
