SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA American Indians from across Indian country will participate in the 18th Annual San Manuel Powwow, beginning today through Sunday on the San Manuel of Mission Indians reservation and at Cal State San Bernardino.
The powwow kicks off with a round dance today on the tribe’s reservation and the powwow moves to a larger venue at Cal State San Bernardino to accommodate the thousands of people expected to attend the annual event.
The Cal State events will be on the university’s soccer fields near Coussoulis Arena. The powwow at Cal State will be from 5:00 pm to midnight on Friday. The Grand Entry on Friday will be at 8:00 pm.On Saturday the hours for the powwow are from 11:00 am to midnight. There will be two Grand Entries: the first at 1:00 pm and the second at 8:00 pm.
The powwow hours for Sunday are from 11 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday, with the Grand Entry at 1:00 pm.
The powwow includes traditional American Indian music, dancing, food and vendor area where the public can purchase American Indian made items. The public is welcome.
