10 Powwows this Weekend
EAST LANSING, MICHIGAN - Each year the North American Indigenous Student Organization at Michigan State University sponsors a powwow on a Saturday close to Valentine's Day. The powwow is aptly named the Powwow of Love.
This Saturday the 29th Annual MSU Powwow of Love will be celebrated at the Jenison Field House in East Lansing, Michigan.
The Powwow of Love is a traditional and contest powwow. Prize money will be paid to winners 13 years of age or older in the following categories: Men's - Traditional, Grass and Fancy; Women's - Traditional, Jingle and Fancy Shawl.
The price of admission is:
MSU students and children 11 and under are free;
12-17 years old is $3.00;
18-59 years old is $5.00 and
those 60 and above is $3.00.
Doors open to the general public at 10:00 am. There will be two grand entries: 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
No drugs, alcohol or weapons are permitted at the powwow.
