Not only did her creative effort inspire us toward action to get out the vote this past Tuesday, Rachael symbolizes the growing youth vote.

National Congress of American Indians' Executive Director Jacqueline Pata, Raven/Sockeye Clan of the Tlingit Tribe, pointed to the growing importance of the youth vote during the Native Vote Election Results Webinar on Thursday.

Over 12,000 'Generation Y' young people become of voting age each day. Native Vote partner, Rock the Vote, reported 60 percent of the youth vote picked the President last Tuesday. Voters age 18 - 30 years old influenced eighty of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency. With the median age of American Indians and Alaska Natives over 16 percent below the US population as a whole, an active Native youth vote is critical to the success of the Native Policy Agenda.

Please join me in congratulating Rachael Sourjohn.
