Winnebago, Nebraska - The Winnebago Veteran's Powwow is the oldest continuous powwow in Indian country and is open to the public. The 145th annual homecoming celebration of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska will be July 28th through July 31st at Veterans Memorial Park on US75 east of Winnebago.

The celebration commemorates the return of Chief Little Priest and the Fort Omaha Scouts, Company A, Nebraska Volunteers of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. The Powwow features traditional songs, dances and food. Visitors come from throughout the US and foreign countries. A one-time $5.00 admission charge covers the four-day event. Camping is available.

Winnebago Indian News Reports - Powwow visitors should be on the lookout for injured New York Yankee and Winnebago tribal member Joba Chamberlain. He is rumored to be in the area visiting family and friends.
