RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA Oglala Sioux President Bryan Brewer was hospitalized after a single car accident on Saturday evening near Red Shirt Table on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

President Brewer is in Rapid City Regional Hospital recovering from nonlife-threatening injuries. His injuries include a broken hip and a concussion. He was reported to be heavily medicated on Sunday afternoon.
His family is requesting that interested parties and those concerned about him to allow President Brewer to rest.
“The family would like to thank everyone for their concern and prayers. At this time, the family respectfully asks for some privacy for Bryan as he rests and works on his recovery. We will be sharing updates as we receive them from his family,”
reads a statement released by the Oglala Sioux Tribe on Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Brewer was sworn in as president of the Oglala Sioux Tribe earlier this month on December 5.
The cause of the accident is not known at this time.
