Levi Horn-Northern Cheyenne
Native Brief: CHICAGO - Levi Horn, a tribal citizen of the Northern Cheyenne, has been activated by the Chicago Bears. He will be in uniform Sunday and ready to play if needed as a right tackle against the visiting San Diego Chargers.
Horn is in his second year with the Chicago Bears football organization and was placed on the team's practice squad just before the beginning of the regular season. Horn was a standout tackle when he played at the University of Montana.
"There's been a lot of hard work. Now I have the best possible opportunity to help the team when need me," Horn told Native News Network on Friday afternoon, minutes after being informed he is be activated.
Horn will be at the Chicago Powwow opening reception on Friday night at Navy Pier, but will be with his Chicago Bears teammates the rest of the weekend and will not be able to attend the actual powwow this weekend.
The Chicago Bears official website lists Horns as height as 6' 7" and weight as 315 pounds.
Despite his busy life as a football athlete, Horn believes in giving back to the American Indian community. In May, Horn led the Longest Walk 3 - Reversing Diabetes through along Lakeshore Drive in Chicago as it went through the city. In July, Horn gave a motivational talk and signed autographs at the Spokane Tribe of Indians, where he grew up in Spokane, Washington.
Additionally, Horn is a Nike 7 ambassador and has represented Nike at numerous events involving Native youth to achieve better educations and well-being through exercise.
