Native Brief: CHARLOTTE- The 37th Annual North Carolina Indian Unity Conference will be held March 8-10 at the Renaissance Charlotte Suites Hotel in Charlotte. The conference theme, "Still Making History," reflects the contributions American Indians have made and continue to make the social, cultural, political and economic vibrancy of the State of North Carolina.

The North Carolina Indian Unity Conference is an annual conference that serves to unite American Indians and others in a forum to address health, education, social, cultural, political, spiritual, and economic issues affecting the American Indian population of North Carolina.

The conference brings together national, state, local and tribal leaders to discuss concerns, identify resources, and develop strategic solutions to advocate for and improve the well-being of North Carolina's first citizens.

Each year approximately 350 participants gather from across the state and nation to dialogue about a variety of issues facing American Indians in North Carolina.

Conference highlights include general assembly sessions, workshops, cultural activities, powwow, quilt show, awards banquet and the Miss Indian North Carolina Pageant.
