WINDOW ROCK, ARIZONA - Navajo Nation Vice President Rex Lee Jim announced last Friday he is working with spiritual leaders across Navajo-land to host an 'All Faiths Seasonal Prayer Day' and faith-based activities on the first day of summer, June 21, 2011.

"Spiritual leaders need to come together and educate our people about the impacts of alcoholism, smoking, gambling, diabetes, and many other chronic illnesses," Vice President Jim stated. "Our elders are concerned about natural events around the world such as drought, fires, floods, tornados, earthquakes, and hurricanes. We all need to tap into our spiritual strengths and move forward in unity of prayer."

Prayer Day will start at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, June 21 at the Office of President and Vice President executive branch parking lot, located at 100 Tribal Hill Drive in Window Rock.

"We would like to invite people of all spiritual backgrounds to join us for a special prayer for healing the needs of our people and state of the nation," said President Ben Shelly.

The Shelly-Jim Administration is planning to hold a prayer event and spiritual activities on the first day of each season. The first day of the summer season is when the sun is farthest north, it is also known as the Summer Solstice.
