WINDOW ROCK, ARIZONA – In a move to reach Diné citizens wherever they are in the world, the Navajo Nation Council sessions will be streamed live from Window Rock, Arizona beginning today.

Navajo NationLive 8:30 am mdt

All regular and special sessions of the Navajo Nation Council will be streamed live over the internet for a global Diné audience and other interested parties.

“It is with great pleasure that I announce the beginning of this new endeavor that will revolutionize and redefine the level on which Diné citizens interact with their government,”

Speaker Johnny Naize stated in a news release issued Sunday night.

This endeavor sets out to expand and diversify the ways in which Diné citizens participate in their government – an objective for which many council delegates have advocated.

The Speaker's office will partner with the Navajo Nation Office of Broadcast Services to provide this regular service to the Diné people; it will enable them to view Council proceedings anywhere in the world, whether on or off the reservation, wherever internet access is available.

In celebration of the milestone, the Office of the Speaker is organizing a live stream event that will kick off the live streaming of the Fall session on October 15 at 8:30 am mdt.

The first ever "Navajo Nation Council & Diné Family Military Live Stream Outreach" is being coordinated to bridge the divide that currently exists between those who are serving abroad in the various branches of the United States military and their families.

This event will allow families of deployed military Diné men and women, along with Navajo Nation elected leadership, to utilize this new endeavor to express their sentiments via live streaming.

“All citizens are invited to this event, online or in person, as we celebrate this new communication achievement that will, indeed, elevate the caliber in which we connect the Diné people to their government and its critical discussions,”

Speaker Naize said.
