Lightning Medicine Cloud Festival Continues as Planned

GREENVILLE, TEXAS – The 18th Annual Greenville Scholarship Powwow will take place this weekend despite the senseless death of Lightning Medicine Cloud and his mother.

Lightning Medicine Cloud was the white buffalo born on the Lakota Ranch nearly a year ago. The Greenville Scholarship Powwow was scheduled to celebrate the first birthday of the buffalo. It will still take place as scheduled from May 11 - 12.

The Powwow opens at 2 pm on Friday and lasts until 10 pm with gourd dancing and other intertribal and contest dancing. Saturday it opens at 7 am and goes to 10 pm. On Sunday there will be a special service for Lightning Medicine Cloud lasting from 10 am to noon.
