Chicago Bear Levi Horn
Native Brief: Chicago - It was a holiday weekend of highs and lows for former Montana Grizzly Levi Horn. He was cut by the Chicago Bears on Saturday as part of the Bears' getting down to the 53 man roster the NFL requires for game weeks. On Sunday however the Bears signed him to their practice squad.
Each NFL team has a practice squad of up to 8 players. The practice squad is allowed to practice with the team during the week but they do not travel with the team or suit up for home games. Practice squad players however are free agents and are able to be called up to the active roster of their team or any other of the 32 teams.
It might not be what many of us were hoping for Levi Horn but he still is a member of the Bears. He is just one injury from getting called up to any of the 64 offensive tackle positions in the league and playing in a regular season game. Levi Horn played in his first preseason game earlier this summer.
