“I believe there is at least one person working in that hospital who is a Ku Klux Klan member. The Ku Klux Klan is a hate group. This is an outrage in modern times,”
said Traversie.
Vern Traversie - Cheyenne River
“The hospital contends that the three K's were put there as the result of an allergic reaction to surgical tape. If that is true, they are admitting putting tape on a man who is allergic to surgical tape. So, in a way, they have already admitted to some wrongdoing, ”
commented Reverend Farrar, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Eagle Butte, where Traversie is a member.
“Vern was denied pain medication and sworn at by at least one individual at that hospital.”
Reverend Farrar is serving as a spokesperson for Traversie.
He says the lawsuit is not simply about money to compensate Traversie for damages. No one would comment on the dollar amount of the lawsuit to the Native News Network.
“What is important about this lawsuit is justice and safety. Vern's spirit has been violated. Vern knows and I know, there is some crazy guy working at that hospital who did this to him. If he does not get caught, he could do it to someone else,”
commented Reverend Farrar.
“He could do it to someone else, and probably will once this case dies down. So, the most important this is for this man to find this person or persons who did this and make sure they are punished.”
“There is good and bad in all people. I am not hateful towards white people. But I do believe there the Ku Klux Klan has a presence in that hospital. We all need to come together and pray to conquer the hatred that is out there,”
said Traversie.
