ST LOUIS Kyle Lohse has been translating his best season as a professional into the postseason this year. Next on tap for him and the Cardinals are the San Francisco Giants. With the series knotted up a 1 game apiece the Cardinals will rely on Lohse again to give them their best chance to win.
Kyle Lohse - Paskenta Band of Nomlaki
This might be the Cardinals toughest task to date as they face Matt Cain who has had a career season for the Giants and already has a World Series ring to his credit. Cain had 16 wins, an ERA of 2.79, and 193 strikeouts in the regular season, all career highs. He also tossed a perfect game this summer and has the stuff to recreate that magic again. Cain has given up 6 runs in a little over 10 innings this postseason so the Cardinals have to take advantage of any opportunity he gives them.
Lohse has been the ace of this pitching staff since opening day when he beat the Miami Marlins. Lohse finished the year with 16 wins against only 3 losses. His earned run average of 2.86 and WHIP of 1.09 were 5th and 4th best among National League pitchers. In a year when the 2 other Native American baseball players, Joba Chamberlain and Jacoby Ellsbury, were set to have big years, Kyle Lohse has gone out and performed for the defending World Series Champions.
Kyle Lohse has be nothing be solid for the Cardinals this postseason and if the St. Louis bats can awaken you can all but lock up a win for Cardinals.
