Kiowa Nation Member Chris Wondolowski Finalist for Major League Soccer MVP

NEW YORK– Chris Wondolowski, forward for the San Jose Earthquakes, has been named a finalist for the 2012 Major League Soccer Most Valuable Player award. The other finalists for the award are New York forward Thierry Henry, and Kansas City midfielder Graham Zusi.

Wondolowski is a tribal member of the Kiowa Nation. Wondolowski was due to testify at a US Senate Committee on Indian Affairs oversight hearing on tomorrow, but since the MVP award will be announced in New York on the same day, he will not be able to testify.

However, the Committee is a meet and greet today from 2:00 - 3:00 pm with Wondolowski in the Committee's hearing room in Room 628 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. The public is welcome.

He scored 27 goals during the 2012 season was the best in Major League Soccer. His outstanding scoring won him the 2012 Golden Boot. His 27 goals tied Roy Lassister's Major League Soccer all-time single season goal record set in 1996.

He is the brother of fellow professional soccer player Stephen Wondolowski. Chris Wondolowski is known by the nickname "Wondo".
