Indian Affairs Senate Committee to Host Hearing on Celebration of Native Identity

WASHINGTON – US Senator Daniel K. Akaka, D-Hawaii, chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, will hold an oversight hearing on "Reclaiming Our Image and Identity for the Next Seven Generations," on Thursday.

The purpose of this hearing is to examine ways in which all Native peoples can continue to thrive in their culture and identity through the promotion of positive images and to hear from a growing number of Native Americans who have excelled in the fields of academia, entertainment and sports.
