Hurricane Sandy Causes Cancellation of Indian Mascot Symposium at NMAI

WASHINGTON – Due to weather conditions caused by Hurricane Sandy, the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington DC, is closed Monday, Oct. 29. All Federal offices in the Washington area will be closed Monday.

NEW YORK – The National Museum of the American Indian in New York is closed Monday, Oct. 29, and Tuesday, Oct. 30.

The much anticipated "Racist Stereotypes and Cultural Appropriation in American Sports," symposium and community conversation scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 1, in the National Museum of the American Indian's Rasmuson Theater in Washington has been postponed. A new date for the symposium was not yet available at press time.
