“We need to come together and communicate at a government to government level to address the needs to the people. We need to openly communicate with one another on what needs to be done and what needs to happen. We cannot neglect the human rights of the Navajo people.”

President Shelly stated.

At a small residential home, powered by wind and solar electricity, over 60 people came together to receive updates on livestock, utilities, roads, legislation and electricity.

“There is a long history of these beautiful lands and we need to continue to collaborate with the Hopi tribe in addressing how we can better serve the people. We can come together to lobby for funding to address the needs to the people.”

President Shelly stated.

Representatives from both Navajo and Hopi Natural Resource departments were present to give presentations and talk to people one on one.

According to the attendees of the annual meeting, President Shelly is the first Navajo president to attend the meeting.

“What happened to the voice of the People? We need to make sure you are heard and what is said will be addressed,”
