Come Set the Record for Largest Round Dance

LAWRENCE, KANSAS –The Haskell Indian Nations University will be holding its Upward Bound Powwow this weekend. Haskell Upward Bound is a program that helps American Indian high school kids prepare for higher education. It takes on 60 students during year long sessions.

Haskell Upward Bound Students will be given the chance to share what they have learned with people from their community. The Haskell Upward Bound Powwow will also attempt to make the largest round dance in Kansas, again, and are hoping to get many more people involved this year.

Haskell Indian Nations University is a tribal university that is for members of federally recognized Native American tribes in the United States. It was founded in 1884 and has grown in the past 125 years into a university that has 1,000 students a semester and offers both associate and bachelor degrees.
