Native Brief: HOPKINS, MICHIGAN - It takes snow to have snowsnake games. West Michigan has lacked its normal snowfall this year.
Lack of Snow
The 2nd Gun Lake Snowsnake Games that were postponed from January 21 to today, February 18, 2012 have been cancelled due to the unseasonably warm weather conditions and lack of snow.
The Gun Lake Tribe and Great Lakes Lifeways Institute, the co-sponsors of the event, regrettably canceled today's games.
The co-sponsors are hopeful the games will continue next winter.
