First Nations University Hosts Their 34th Annual Spring Powwow

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN – First Nations University of Canada is holding their 34th Annual Spring Celebration Powwow. With the help of over 90 volunteers, the First Nations Powwow has become one of the province's largest spring tourist attractions.

Thousands in Prize Money

Over 7,000 visitors from across North America are expected to attend the powwow that like the school will reflect the traditions of the five tribal groups of Saskatchewan. They are Cree, Saulteaux, Dakota, Dene and Assiniboine.

In strengthening community relations, all involvement from the Elders, the arts and crafts organizations, the corporate and non-profit organizations, the Regina Police Service, and local businesses contributes to the community spirit of this event.

The First Nations University of Canada spring Powwow is run by the students and staff of the school and will be held this upcoming Saturday and Sunday 12 pm - 7 pm. There will be dancing and drum competitions with thousands of dollars in prize money.
