WASHINGTON, DC - In an email to Native News Network editor, Levi Rickert, First Lady Michelle Obama on Tuesday afternoon asked all Americans to support those serving in the United States military by joining her in a new campaign called Joining Forces.

“Joining Forces is about all of us joining together, as Americans, to give back to the extraordinary military families who sacrifice so much every day. Our motto is simple - everyone can do something,”

writes the First Lady in the email. Watch the First Lady and Dr. Jill Biden announce the initiative below:

Currently, there are nearly 24,000 American Indians serving in the military. Additionally there are an estimated 383,000 American Indian military veterans.
