Miko-elect Anderson
PHILADELPHIA, MISSISSIPPI - Phyliss J. Anderson will takeover as the first female miko - or chief - of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians on Tuesday, October 4.
The Inauguration Ceremony theme for Tribal Chief-Elect Phyliss J. Anderson will be "Our Moment in History." Anderson was elected tribal miko on September 6.
"The Inauguration of Phyliss J. Anderson marks a historic occasion for the tribe,"
the inauguration committee stated.
Inauguration plans Miko-Elect Anderson include a parade, swearing-in ceremony and a luncheon.
The parade will begin at Mississippi 16 by the Choctaw Central High School and will travel west to the Golden Moon Hotel and Casino. At 9:45 am edt, the east entrance of the Golden Moon parking lot will be closed to traffic and will reopen at 10:45 am edt.
Traditional Choctaw dancing will be part of the activities to begin the inauguration ceremony, which begin at 11:00 am edt. The inauguration ceremonies will be take place at The Arena of the Golden Moon Hotel and Casino.
All Mississippi Band Choctaw Indians tribal citizens are invited to the inauguration ceremony and luncheon. Other special guests will also be on hand.
The committee wants the inauguration ceremonies to be a new beginning of tribal unity.
