ST. LOUIS The St. Louis Cardinals have leaned heavily on Lohse, Paskenta Band of Nomlaki, this postseason to go out to the mound and give them a solid performance. So far he has lived up to those expectations.

Last night however, Lohse struggled for the Cardinals. He allowed 7 hits and 5 walks in 5.2 innings while only striking out 2. With that stat line you would expect tons of runs to be given up. Lohse only allowed 1 of those 12 base runners to cross home plate. His ability to pitch under pressure with men on base allowed the Cardinals to escape with a 3 to 1 win against San Francisco.
Just like in the 1 game playoff against the Atlanta team, the win from Lohse was not the biggest story of the game. That belonged to the rain delays. While the Tigers and Yankees game got postponed a day, these 2 teams had to sit for 3 and a half hours while the rain came down. The delay sealed the win for the Cardinals and they now take a 2 games to 1 lead in the best of 7 series.
Lohse has been the ace of this pitching staff since opening day when he beat the Miami Marlins. Lohse finished the year with 16 wins against only 3 losses. His earned run average of 2.86 and WHIP of 1.09 were 5th and 4th best among National League pitchers. In a year when the 2 other Native American baseball players, Joba Chamberlain and Jacoby Ellsbury, were set to have big years, Kyle Lohse has gone out and performed for the defending World Series Champions.
