LINCOLN, NEBRASKA Thousands of tribal leaders from throughout Indian Country will begin arriving in Lincoln, Nebraska for the National Congress of American Indians Mid-Year Conference.
Deputy Secretary of the Interior David J. Hayes
On Monday, June 18, Deputy Secretary of the Interior David J. Hayes will deliver keynote remarks at the conference in Lincoln. In his remarks, Hayes will highlight progress being made by the Obama Administration to restore integrity in US government relations with American Indian and Alaska Native leaders, as well as point to current and future efforts underway to help build stronger, safer and more prosperous tribal communities.
Following his remarks, Deputy Secretary Hayes will be joined by Interior's Acting Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs Del Laverdure for a question and answer session. On Tuesday, June 19, Interior's Solicitor Hilary C. Tompkins will also address the conference.
The conference runs through Wednesday.
