CROW AGENCY, MONTANA - The third weekend in August the powwow grounds along the banks of the Little Bighorn River, on the Crow Indian Reservation, becomes the "Teepee Capital of the World."
Teepee Capital of the World
Some 1,000 teepees line the powwow grounds for a weekend of powwow celebration. The Crow Fair attracts close to 50,000 participants and spectators each year.
The 93rd Crow Fair begins tomorrow and will run through Sunday. The Crow Fair is packed with activities that include a powwow, a rodeo and race meet. Each morning of the Crow Fair, a colorful parade winds its way through the tipi campground. Every afternoon, a rodeo is held and the powwow begins in the early evening and runs well into the night.
93rd Crow Fair
The real intention of the Crow Fair was to have an annual reunion of family clans and the celebration of Crow culture, but the general public is invited.
