TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA The Cherokee Nation is currently accepting enrollment applications for its Early Head Start and Head Start Programs for children ages 0-5.
The Cherokee Nation Head Start has 18 Centers and includes
Cherokee culture and language
The Cherokee Nation Early Childhood Unit implements aspects of American Indian heritage in classrooms including Cherokee culture and language. The comprehensive development program has 18 centers located throughout the tribe's jurisdiction and offers services in education, physical fitness, medical and dental health, nutrition and social development. Children with special needs including significant disabilities are encouraged to apply as well.
Interested participants must submit an application along with copies of their child's Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood Card, a Social Security card, an immunization record, a birth certificate and current verification of income. Centers are available in Adair, Cherokee, Nowata, Mayes, Delaware, Wagoner, Muskogee and Sequoyah Counties.
Applications can picked up from any of the Head Start centers but should be returned to:
