Spreading Cherokee Culture
TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Nation will host an art show tonight from 6:30 - 9:30 pm at the new Cherokee Arts Center, 212 S. Water Street. The show will feature selected works by students of potter Jane Osti and metalsmith Steve Mashburn, who teach classes at the center.
The Cherokee Arts Center was opened by the tribe in November and offers artists a place to meet, share their knowledge and learn new techniques. They have the opportunity to explore a number of creative avenues at the center while creating a viable source of income for themselves and spreading awareness about Cherokee culture.
