Candlelight Vigil for Leonard PeltierAugust 6-7

LEWISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA - The candlelight vigil and rally on behalf of Leonard Peltier is set for today and tomorrow in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

Peltier is serving a life sentence in the US Penitentiary in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He was convicted of the 1975 murders of two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Reservation. He was convicted in 1977. Peltier is considered to be a political prisoner of war by many American Indians throughout the United States and others worldwide.

Organizers are requesting supporters interested in coming to the vigil to be at the prison at 7:00 pm this evening for a candlelight vigil to protest the use of solitary confinement in the US, and in solidarity with prisoners at the federal penitentiary at Lewisburg - in support of Leonard Peltier, in particular.

Tomorrow morning at 10:00 am tomorrow, there will be a Free Peltier Rally. The rally is for Peltier's freedom from solitary confinement and from prison. The Leonard Peltier Defense Offense Committee is seeking clemency for Peltier.

Those coming are encouraged to bring posters and banners, drums, candles, water and food snacks.
