Native Vote 2012Whose Congressman?

TRAVERSE CITY, MICHIGAN - Michigan Congressional 1st District candidate Derek Bailey, Democrat, is questioning the reasoning of current Congressman to host a job fair in Wisconsin. Bailey is the current tribal chairman of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.

Congressman Dan Benishek, who currently represents Michigan's First Congressional District is co-hosting an employment fair in Marinette, Wisconsin today at the University of Wisconsin-Marinette from 9:00 am to Noon with Congressman Reid Ribble, who represents Wisconsin's Eighth Congressional District.

"Let me get this straight…

he's co-hosting a job fair in Wisconsin at the University of Wisconsin-Marinette…

so their folk can find jobs in Michigan because we don't have enough of our own who need jobs…

apparently the Michigan students at Northern Michigan University, Michigan Tech or Lake Superior State University don't measure up,"

commented Bailey.

Some 59 companies will be at the job fair at the Menominee Fieldhouse, located on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Marinette.

Marinette is across the Menominee River, which separates Michigan from Wisconsin.

"When I am a Congressman, I can assure you I will not feel the need to go into Wisconsin to host a job fair,"

stated Bailey.

Marinette Marine, which makes ships is located in Marinette, Wisconsin.
