Native Brief: WASHINGTON - Tribal Leaders and Attorney General Eric Holder and other top Justice Department officials will meet in Rapid City, South Dakota on Wednesday, July 27. On Thursday they will journey to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Attorney General Holder will also participate in a special wreath laying ceremony at Wounded Knee.

The trip coincides with the one-year anniversary of President Obama's signing of the Tribal Law and Order Act into law. Thirty US Attorneys will be participating in the joint Native American Issues Subcommittee and Attorney General's Advisory Committee meeting in Rapid City.

Attorney General Holder, Associate Attorney General Tom Perrelli, Assistant Attorney General Ignacia S. Moreno of the Environment and Natural Resources Division, Department of Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs Secretary Larry Echo Hawk and other officials will engage in listening sessions with tribal leaders and hear from advocates in the fields of tribal safety and domestic violence.
